Cultivating Human Ecologies by Fostering the Civic Capacity of Communities
Thriving Cities Group's Civic Design Cycle is a community engagement and empowerment strategy that aims to build the civic capacity communities. It involves holistically assessing a community to identify resident-articulated needs, building and amplifying the requisite civic infrastructure of a community to steward the process of addressing these resident-articulated needs, working collaboratively and creatively to develop investable opportunities and solutions to these needs, and evaluating with all stakeholders of a community the social impact of this process and the resultant programs or solutions.
Since January 2017, Thriving Cities Group has been working to engage residents and stakeholders of Richmond’s Jefferson Davis Corridor through a project called RVA Thrives to build the Corridor's civic capacity. Contact Lea Whitehurst-Gibson to learn more.
